This is the top I made for a sit/stand desk I made for in my home office. Jumping on the river table trend a bit with a little colored epoxy lake in the middle.
This was made out of two sequential maple slabs which I purchased from Lumber Logs. They had quite a bit of figure from the spalting and because of that were pretty soft in some areas so I started with filling all the cracks with epoxy and coated the whole thing in a penetrating epoxy until it wouldn’t absorb any more. This was followed by a round of flattening with a router jig. Finally the void in the middle was filled with a blue tinted epoxy and the whole thing was finished with General Finishes High Performance.
